Top 6 Money Making activities for your business

Let’s get right into it this time because I know you want to know all about money making activities!

Are you ready to do this?

Alright, so, first of all, what are money making activities? Money making activities are tasks that you do that lead to generating more income. Even if the task itself doesn’t make you money, it will lead to something that will. These are also referred to as income generating or income producing activities.

I, myself am also fairly new to this term as I just learned about it recently. Before this, I was all over the place. Litterally, I’d have one idea in the morning, another in the afternoon, another at night and then a few more thrown in as I slept. But then I was asking for advice from a friend and she threw out this term at me: money making activities…hmmm…I was immediately intrigued as you probably are right now, which is why you’re here…alright, enough with the stories (lol).

So now that we know what it is, what are the activities that can be done to help create some more moola for you?

1. Email Marketing

I’m listing this first because…well, if you follow me on my social media (and if not, then why aren’t you?🤔), you know that I am a certified Email Marketer. What is email marketing? Well, it’s basically marketing yourself, your products, your services, over email. But I know you’re wondering, how do I do this and who do I even email? So, a few ways to get some emails will be listed next, but first, I want to talk to you about what this is. So when you do email marketing, you’re contacting your (usually) ideal customer. Whether that be through your blog or your social media (I’ll explain more in a second), if they’re reading your stuff and have actually taken the time to sign up to your mailling list, then you’ve already got someone interested in you. All you need to do is build on that.

So, getting emails in itself won’t make you any money. However, always remember, social media can block you, close your account, ban you from their platforms, delete your groups/profiles. You can even be hacked and boom! In a split second you’ve lost all your followers. If they’re loyal, they’ll rejoin you on a new account you make, however, there is no guarantee. But for emails, unless someone physically goes and unsubscribes to your list, those emails are yours. You own them and you can contact all your subscribers anytime you need to. (Just don’t overdo it, you don’t want them to unsubscribe). So now, you’re wondering, if capturing emails, won’t make you any money, then why is it even on this list?

Well, because capturing emails, through the right marketing tactics, can turn those subscribers into customers. So, for example, you just came to my website, you signed up to my email list (hint hint😉😉). Now I have your email, now what? Is this relationship over? No. Now I’m going to nurture you, I’ll offer you value every once in awhile, whether that be once a week, or once a month. I may send out an occasional newsletter just to update you on my future plans.

Hopefully you’ll find my content interesting enough to stick with me. Once I do have a product (or service) to sell, then because you are a loyal reader and subscriber, you’ll be the first to know about my offer, you’ll get exclusivity on all that I give out and you may even get discounts that noone else would able to get.

Let’s face it, in business, emails is where it’s at. 90% of the time, business owners are looking for the golden ticket, the email. Why? because like I mentioned earlier, it is yours, your website can shut down, your social media could be unavailable for whatever reason but the emails can always be exported, the can be downloaded but they’ll always be yours (I mean this in the least creepiest way possible).

Now that you know that email marketing is one money making activity, how do you go about getting them?

Well, there’s a few ways.

2. Social Media

How do you get emails through social media? There are lots of ways.

  • You could add your subscription link into your intro/bio on your profile (check out this post to read how to get clients (and optimize your facebook profile for business).
  • You could go into groups and (first check group rules) and offer your freebie (lead magnet) to the members in exchange for their emails
  • If you have a group of your own, you could ask for emails in exchange for something (special class, freebie, special discounts, etc…) as one of your membership questions
  • If you want to spend a little bit of money, you could create lead-generating ads
  • Hold contests on your accounts
  • Add a sign up button onto your Facebook Page (this works for Business pages)
  • Promote premium content on your social media. I, myself am currently offering exclusive content in my Facebook group where I come on live once every single week to further discuss the week’s blog post. I answer questions and go more indepth about what I talk about in the post. If you’re interested in this, then come on over and join me here!

Now, these activities, though, they may not seem like they could ever make you any money, every single one leads to bringing in an income for you.

3. Lead Magnets

Creating lead magnets, though it does take some time to do, will greatly help with lead-generation and in exchange, income generation. How? Well, when you create a lead magnet (aka a freebie), you get (yes again) your reader’s email. Once you get the email, you can offer them even more value and as I mentioned earlier, give them the exclusive on all your offers.

Now, for activities that don’t involve email but would still be considered to be money making activities.

But first, let me tell you a (short) story. So, I was recently talking to one of my mentors about this. She mentioned to me that ‘money making activities’ are anything that would immediately (or eventually) bring in an income. So, think about your end goal, and work backwards from there. What are the actions you need to take in order to reach your goal?

So, now to segway into my next activity,

4. Improve your skills

This one seems obvious but a lot of people may not even think of this. If you offer services, if you create products, the better you get at doing those things, the more money you’ll make. For example, a course creator may not make a single sale on their first course, or even their second or (God forbid) even their third. However, if they actually learn from where they may be going wrong, they will learn from their mistakes and eventually come up with the perfect strategy that works for them. As Mr. Albert Einstein said, “Insanity is doing the same thing over and over and expecting different results.” So improving upon your skills is one of the best money-making activities you could possibly do. This can come in any form, whether that be coaching, courses, watching Youtube videos/tutorials, following groups that talk about your chosen field, etc…

Linked to this is my next activity:

5. Surround yourself with those who are more knowledgable than you

I, myself have surrounded myself with some of the most incredible women in business out there! I learn from these women, I ask them questions and they’re always there to help. This, again may not seem like a ‘money making activity’ but whatever helps you get ahead. Now, this doesn’t mean that it should be all take and no give! Absolutely not. Whenever these ladies need anything from me, I’m always there as well for them. They may be knowledgable in one thing that I need and I may be knowledgable in something they need so it’s always a give and take relationship but learn from those above you in your industry

6. TALK to people

You may not think that just having simple conversations would be considered as a ‘money making activity’. However, how do you think you’re going to get customers if you don’t actually talk to them? This doesn’t even need to be about your business (wait a second and hear me out). I’ve talked to so many women, just in general and when they’ve asked what it is I do (if they hadn’t already gone and stalked my profiles), THEN I bring it up. Some people can totally casually slide in their business and still keep the conversation going, for me, I don’t feel comfortable doing that. However, the next step after they learn, they are either interested because we’ve already built that relationship and friendship that they would trust me to do the work for them over some random stranger on the internet. I’ve proven to them that I am honest and trustworthy so they ask me to do the work for them. It’s not always just about shouting your offer to people. There is a place and time for that, but in most cases, you just need to network. Check out my post on networking here.

So, to conclude, there are countless ‘money making activities’. It all depends on your own niche and industry and where your ideal client is. However, I hope that this post gives you (at least) a starting point or at least some ideas on ways you can jumpstart your business!
