Hey there! If you’re following me on any of my social media then you know that I recently took an email marketing course and got myself certified as an email marketer (SUPER excited about this by the way!).
I wanted to share my experiences with you all and especially for those who think they can’t do it! Because I just began, I wanted to show you the good, the bad and the ugly of starting (or restarting) your business online.
A bit of background information about me!
If you’ve read my “about” page here, then you know that I’m a mom of two very young ones, currently, my oldest is 2 and a half. But what you don’t know is the “ugly” of that. I love my kids to the moon and back…and back to the moon and back…you get the point. But, when I got pregnant with my second baby, I went into a state of mind where I was just not having it. I wanted NOTHING to do with my work. At that time, I was working on a social media management empire. I was just starting out however, I became obsessed with learning EVERYTHING I could about social media. I took courses, I watched videos, I did talks in Facebook groups, I had people coming and asking me questions regarding their social media accounts. I did it all, but as soon as I got pregnant, it was like a switch flipped and I wanted NOTHING to do with social media. Fast forward, I had my second baby in January and thought I was done with online business. I wanted to work on my blog and try making an income solely through writing this blog but realised it wasn’t going to happen as quickly as I wanted it to. I spent 4-5 months trying to figure out what to do. I then eventually had a call with my first mentor (and dear friend) Sara Amira Saleh and she suggested that I get a certification. She’s known me for awhile and we’ve worked together a few times so she knows my skillset quite well and suggested that I should do email marketing. I was terrified… to say the least…
Fast forward to now…
It’s been a couple of weeks since I’ve been (officially) certified and yesterday I had my first break. Sara is currently planning a massive women’s business summit that will be held from June 27th-June 30 2022. She asked me a few days ago if I could create a ‘nurture email sequence’ for her. Honestly, I had NO idea what that was (lol). By the name, I assumed (and was right) that it was an email sequence that nurtured new subscribers/customers in order to make them come back to you.
According to The Volt Lab, a nurture email sequence is ‘A queued set of engaging emails that are sent to a prospect or lead from a marketing automation platform or auto-responder over a scheduled period of time after they take some form of action that triggers the start of the sequence’
I then had a call with Sara AGAIN yesterday morning and asked her exactly what it was she wanted included in the emails exactly (it was my first time EVER writing one of these so I wanted to really impress her as well as make it as perfect as possible. Sara is already planning and doing everything else that has to do with the event on her own, I wanted to make sure not to add more onto her load. She previously sent me a Google doc with a rough outline of what it was that she was looking for. During our call, she went back in and made point form notes of what she wanted. I let her know that I would have it done by Monday…
I put my son down for his daily nap yesterday afternoon and got to work. Within 2 and a half hours, I had written out 7 ‘nurturing’ emails. I was so incredibly nervous but sent it back to her and then DM’ed her on Facebook to go and check what I had just worked on for the past couple of hours. (Mind you, this was the FIRST TIME I have ever done this). She messaged me back saying she hadn’t thoroughly read through it yet, however, with a skim through what I had done, she loved it. She gave me the boost of confidence that I needed in order to keep going!
Later that night, I also ended up getting ANOTHER DM from another business owner asking about my services! I’m finally taking off and I want to share this journey with you just so, if you ever feel like you’re done, you can come back here and keep going with me even when you’re down!
